The Mangalagiri police on Thursday arrested YSR Congress MLC Lella Appi Reddy in Guntur. He is accused in the attack on TDP office at Mangalagiri.
The other accused, MLC Talasila Raghuram and senior leader Devineni Avinash are still to be arrested in the case. The case was registered by the Mangalagiri police as the YSR Congress activists have attacked the TDP office at Mangalagiri in 2021. They destroyed the furniture and beat up some TDP activists present in the office.
It was alleged that former MP Nandigam Suresh, MLCs Appi Reddy and Raghuram, senior leader Avinash were behind the attack. Their supporters from Vijayawada, Thulluru and Guntur were part of the gang that attacked the TDP office. The Mangalagiri police collected the CCTV footage from the TDP office. They have also questioned some TDP activists who were present on the day about the accused.
The police booked over 70 people in the case with these four leaders as conspirators. The Andhra Pradesh high court on Wednesday dismissed the anticipatory bail petitions of these leaders. The court also did not allow them to approach the Supreme Court. Following this, the Mangalagiri police started arresting the accused.
The police have arrested Nandigam Suresh in Hyderabad on Wednesday night. He was produced in the Mangalagiri court which had sent him to two weeks judicial remand. The police have formed 12 teams to nab the other accused.
It is suspected that the accused are in Palnadu, and Bapatla districts, besides Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
