HYDRA to have legal sanctity shortly

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Projection (HYDRA) will have legal sanctity shortly. The state government is planning to bring an ordinance giving legal sanctity for HYDRA. The cabinet meeting scheduled for September 18 is likely to take a call on this.

HYDRA was formed with a GO No 99 and people are opposing its actions. Some are going to the court challenging the decisions of the HYDRA. Taking all these factors into consideration the state government plans to give legal sanctity to HYDRA. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is seriously viewing at this point and he is likely to discuss the issue at the cabinet meeting.

The cabinet is also scheduled to discuss about loan waiver to the farmers besides implementing Rythu Bharosa and extending crop insurance to the farmers. The state government had so far waived farmers loans up to Rs 2 lakh. It did not take a call on the loans beyond Rs 2 lakh. The government is considering the option of waiving these loans in phased manner. The cabinet is likely to discuss the issue and take a decision on waiving the loans beyond Rs 2 lakh. However, the cabinet may not consider loans beyond Rs 5 lakh, sources said.

The Congress government had changed the name of Rythu Bandhu and named it as Rythu Bharosa. The government is taking views of the officials and farmers on implementing the scheme. Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao had already said that the government would give this scheme to those who have cultivated their lands. As the agriculture season is coming to an end, there is heavy pressure on the state government for the implementation of the scheme. The cabinet is likely to take a decision on this at the September 18 meeting.

The high court had directed the state to start and complete caste census in three months and conduct elections for the local bodies. The state government had already constituted BC Commission. However, the cabinet has to give guidelines for the caste census.
