Former minister and YSR Congress senior leader Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, had quit the party on Wednesday. He sent his resignation letter to party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said that he was quitting the YSR Congress because of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Balineni had been sulking in the party for some time. He was initially expected to quit the party before the 2024 general elections. He held a meeting of his supporters in Ongole before the elections. However, he postponed the decision and continued in the party.

Srinivasa Reddy contested from the Ongole Assembly constituency on the YSR Congress ticket. He lost the election to the TDP’s Damacharla Janardhana Rao by a margin of 24,172 votes. Since then Balineni had been silent in politics. He did not even attend the party meeting convened by Jagan Mohan Reddy in the past.

Balineni also did not meet Jagan Mohan Reddy after the 2024 general elections. He distanced himself from the YSR Congress leadership after the elections. Finally, he took a call on the day and sent the resignation letter.

Srinivasa Reddy is likely to meet deputy chief minister and Jana Sena president K Pawan Kalyan in Mangalagiri on Thursday. He is likely to join the Jana Sena after meeting Pawan Kalyan. Pawan Kalyan too is interested in taking Balineni into the party.

It is to be seen how Balineni would take his political career forward in the days to come.
