Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the present government would complete the Machilipatnam Port by December 2025. The chief minister visited the port site on Wednesday and reviewed the progress of the work. He interacted with the officials and the contractors.
Later, speaking to the media, Chandrababu Naidu said that the port has four berths in the plan. There was no need to increase the berths at this stage. If required, the berths could be added in the future, he said. He said that the four berths would be ready for operation by December 2025.
The chief minister also said that the government would acquire land if required. The Machilipatnam town would also be developed simultaneously. The town would be connected with more railway lines and better national highway.
The Machilipatnam Port would be developed as the capital port, Chandrababu Naidu said. He said that Machilipatnam is close to the capital city, Amaravati, and it would be developed on par with Amaravati. The government would also bring more industries to Machilipatnam, the chief minister said. He further added that the government would promote industrial development around Machilipatnam.
The government would also promote exports from Machilipatnam Port. Sea food exports would be promoted from the port, he said. He further said that the previous government had stopped the Machilipatnam Port works in the last five years. The government did not take interest in continuing the works, he said.
The chief minister also said that the previous government had taken the government lands for the individuals. The present government would conduct enquiry into the land deals in the last five years and restore all government lands, he added.
Local MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry and Minister for Mines and Excise, Kollu Ravindra were also present during the chief minister’s visit.
