Telangana minister for endowments and forests, Konda Surekha, on Thursday withdrew her remarks against the Akkineni family and Samantha. She said that her statement was to hit back at BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) and were not intended to hurt the sentiments of film actress Samantha.
She offered apology to the Akkineni family and the Telugu film industry who reacted to her statement. She said that it was not her intention to hurt the sentiments of Samantha or the Akkineni family. Her intention was to expose the misdeeds of KTR.
Earlier, Konda Surekha alleged that KTR had asked for Samantha when she was married to Akkineni Naga Chaitanya. Akkineni Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya have also endorsed KTR’s request and asked Samantha to meet KTR. However, Samantha refused to meet KTR and divorced Naga Chaitanya, Konda Surekha said.
Samantha, Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya turned down the minister’s statement. They have even warned the minister against legal action. Junior NTR, Allu Arjun and several others from the Telugu film industry have also condemned the statement of Konda Surekha.
After everyone reacted to her statement, the minister on Thursday said that she did not realise that her comments would hurt the sentiments of the actress and the family. Her intention was only to expose KTR, who played with the lives of several women in the state in the last ten years.
