AP bags second position in Ease of Doing Business

Andhra Pradesh had secured second place in the country in implementing Ease of Doing Business for 2022. This was announced by Union Minister for Commerce Peeyush Goel in Delhi. The Union Minister patted Andhra Pradesh for the industrial initiatives implemented by the state government.

Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was the chief minister during 2022 and the initiatives by his government have won the award. Kerala stood in the first place. Andhra Pradesh was ahead of Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Karnataka states in Ease of Doing Business.

During 2022, the state have to implement 352 initiatives suggested by the Central government, which include 15 related to industries and 10 related to civic services. In all, 17 states have submitted their reports on implementation of these initiatives. Kerala stood first followed by Andhra Pradesh in the implementation. Gujarat was in the third place followed by Rajasthan in fourth and Tripura in fifth place.

The Central government conducted a random survey of the implementation of these initiatives. It also contacted the industry for verification.

The state government getting second place in Ease of Doing Business for 2022 was a big gain for the Jagan Mohan Reddy regime. The regime faced criticism that industrialists were running away from the state. The opposition TDP had campaigned on this and made hue and cry about the industrialists coming to the state.

In all Rs 7,69,815 crore investments have come to the state in 2022 during Jagan Mohan Reddy government. Industries like Centuryply, Aadani, Greenco, have come to the state and invested here.
